This Carnelian Agate is a gorgeous rusty orange with a unique clear quartz patch. It is wrapped in pure copper with some copper accent beads, and oxidized to give it an antiqued finish. Pure copper jewelry may darken over time due to exposure to air and oils from the skin. To brighten it up and keep it shiny, I include a polishing cloth with your purchase. This pendant comes with an 18” wax cord necklace, extendable to 20”.
Carnelian is a variety of quartz known as chalcedony, or agate. In It ranges in color from yellow to orange to red and reddish-brown. Most prized are warm oranges and vivid reds. Because of its lush colors and ease in crafting, carnelian has been used in jewelry since at least the 4th millennium B.C.
It’s said the finest carnelian is from India, and the face of the Taj Mahal bears red flowers crafted from inlaid carnelian. But carnelian has been sourced from many nations including Brazil, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Australia and Germany. Material from Madagascar is currently prominent on the market. In the U.S., Oregon is notable, with nodules found on coastal beaches and in river gravels.
Metaphysical Properties:
Carnelian was the stone of courage to the ancient Romans, and for the ancient Egyptians it assisted the dead in their journey to the afterlife. In contemporary times, carnelian is thought by some to enhance self-esteem and creativity, to combat feelings of inadequacy.

Please follow these suggestions for care of your handmade jewelry:
Don’t wear your jewelry while sleeping, swimming, exercising, or handle it roughly
Don’t expose your jewelry to extreme hot/cold temperatures, or prolonged direct sun exposure
Don’t clean your jewelry with any chemicals or jewelry cleaning machines. A simple cleaning with soap and lukewarm water and soft cloth is all that should be required.
It is natural for pure copper jewelry to get darker/oxidize over time. We will provide you with a small cleaning cloth with your purchase to help keep it shiny and clean, but we do recommend that you store your copper jewelry in a sealed plastic bag to help slow the oxidation process.
